High Risk Jobs requiring an ESC/COC and an ROI

COC (Certificate Of Compliance)

The most common form of Electrical Certification, When you submit an application for a Code of Compliance Certificate, you must obtain an energy work certificate (COC) on completion of any electrical work, as required by the Electricity Act 1992. Ester Electrical’s electrical inspectors can organise a Certificate OF Compliance for your building.

ROI (Record OF Inspection)

A Record OF Inspection is required for all ‘High Risk’ electrical work.

This can only be completed by an EWRB registered electrcial Inspector.

Electrical Inspections are required for but not limited to the following: Incoming Mains Work, Main earthing, Main Switchboard/MEN Link/ Solar/Renewable energy, Electric Vehicle Chargers etc

COV (Certificate Of Verification)

Ester Electrical regularly issues COV Electrical Inspections for: insurance companies, Landlords, Building Managers and Banks.

Why do I need a COV?

A Certificate of verification inspection is to:

  1. Confirm that the installation is not damaged or has not deteriorated so as to impair electrical safety
  2. To identify installation defects and departures from the requirements of this Standard that may give rise to danger.

The issue of a COV is intended to ensure:

  1. The protection of persons and livestock against electric shock and burns
  2. The protection against damage to property or building by fire and heat arising from an installation defect

COV electrical inspections are often required for older homes due to their dated and often non-compliant electrical, ensuring electrical safety.

The standard AS/NZS 3019:200  makes specific provision for three levels of inspection

  1. Basic visual inspection; this is standard
  2. Visual inspection and limited testing;
  3. Visual inspection and full testing.

The standard Certificate Of Verification inspection relating to insurance and banks is a basic Basic visual inspection, the inspection is undertaken while all electrical appliances are running, reducing interference with your day to day routine.

A Certificate Of Verification protects your investment property and gives you peace of mind. Often if an older house with suspected rubber or TRS cabling.

Banks and insurance companies want to see a COV verifying the building has been rewired, this older cabling system is a major fire risk.

Ester Electrical Issues a report is issued after the inspection. This report provides valuable information on the status of an electrical installation and should be retained for future use.

Ester’s team of professional and experienced electrical inspectors provide an efficient and reliable service.

EWOF (Electrical Warrant OF Fitness)

An EWOF is required every 48 Months, its a legal requirement if the caravan is to be connected to a mains/grid supply. Camp sites, Caravan parks and marinas that offer a 230v connection to your vehicle require a current EWOF prior to connection.

The Certificate can only be completed by an electrical Inspector witha current practicing license.

We also can also complete the remedial Electrical work to make your vehicle electrically compliant should it not be to standard

Upon issuing the warrant, we leave a copy of the EWOF form and place a vehicle Window sticker identifying the current certificate. The warrant form, a copy of that form, or the WOF sticker is proof of compliance so you must keep at least one of the three in the vehicle that is certified to ensure ease of connection to shore power and/or campsite power.

If you’re unsure that your electrical connection, caravan or boat is compliant, give Ester Electrical a ring  and we can come out to site to give you some onsite advice to ensure you get the job done right the first time.
